Qimonda produces Rambus XDR DRAM memory for PLAYSTATION 3

Qimonda AG and Rambus announced the beginning of mass production company Qimonda product XDR DRAM for PLAYSTATION3 (PS3). Qimonda has begun to release the first 512 samples Mgb XDR DRAM in January 2008. Memory of XDR RAM expanding portfolio of products company Qimonda, which will enhance service levels high and high bandwidth applications on a growing world market for computers and electronics.

Architecture XDR passed tests in vysokoobemnyh, at a price competitive applications. XDR DRAM from Qimonda operate at speeds of 3.2 Gbit / sec with a maximum capacity of 6.4 Gb / s and 1 - 2 - byte width of the channel. In the future, planned to increase speed up to 6.4 Gbit / sec with a maximum capacity of 12.8 GB / sec. XDR DRAM has the characteristics of productivity, qualitatively superior in comparison with existing decisions of memory. With the help of XDR DRAM can achieve very high productivity with the least number of components.

Established with the help of professional support at all stages of production: from chip design to system integration, marked by numerous awards, the architecture has a major XDR technology based on patented designs Rambus. Among them: technology with low voltage and power consumption Differential Rambus Signaling Level (DRSL); Octal Data Rate (ODR), which allows transfer eight bits of data in each frequency cycle; FlexPhase and Dynamic-Point-to-Point (DPP) for the enhanced integrity and scalability signal.
