Tatung InfoComm, a WiMAX licensee for the southern region of Taiwan, has completed the installation of 90 out of the 200 WiMAX base stations it purchased from NEC, and the company is also on track to install the remaining 110 base stations before the end of this year, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted company president Peter Yen as saying.
Tatung InfoComm aims to kick off its commercial WiMAX services in the first quarter, or in the second quarter, of 2009, with plans to solicit potential partners with technical background through capital increment projects, EDN quoted Yen as indicating. Tatung InfoComm is currently capitalized at NT$1.1 billion (US$34.5 million) with 170 employees, noted the paper.
