Dallas, Texas, October 14, 2008
Leuven, Belgium — AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY) today announced the availability of the AT&T USBConnect Quicksilver, a new USB mobile broadband device with an award-winning design. The Quicksilver is the newest addition to AT&T's High Speed Packet Access (HSPA)-capable lineup of LaptopConnect devices on the nation's fastest third-generation (3G) network.
The AT&T USBConnect Quicksilver is the first USB mobile broadband device worldwide to use the Icera Livanto® chipset, providing the latest features in one of the world's smallest HSPA USB devices that weighs just 1.2 ounces. Based on the global standard for wireless — GSM — the Quicksilver provides access to not only the nation's fastest 3G network but also to international data roaming in more than 150 countries, with 3G available in more than 60 of those countries.
"Our customers rely on fast mobile broadband connections to manage business and stay connected to their lives," said Michael Woodward, vice president, Business Mobility Products for AT&T's wireless unit. "With the small, stylish AT&T Quicksilver, customers can send and receive large e-mails, browse the Internet and stream video not only here in the U.S. on the nation's fastest 3G network but also when abroad via AT&T's industry-leading wireless international footprint."
AT&T has the nation's fastest 3G network, delivering LaptopConnect customers typical downlink 3G speeds between 700 kilobits per second (Kbps) and 1.7 megabits per second (Mbps) and typical uplink 3G speeds between 500 Kbps and 1.2 Mbps.
"Plug-and-play USB modems continue to revolutionize mobile broadband in markets worldwide," said Jan Callewaert, CEO of Option. "I'm very pleased to continue our long-term relationship with AT&T on the launch of this great new product. The AT&T Quicksilver will be an attractive and successful mobile broadband solution."
The heart of the AT&T Quicksilver is its intelligent design. The smart design provides a protective cap for the USB connector, and with its unique textures and rounded edges, the AT&T Quicksilver is a reliable mobile broadband device that projects a confident and refined image. The AT&T Quicksilver is Mac OS- and Windows-compatible.
