HTC (High Tech Computer) has landed orders for its latest Android-powered smartphone, the HTC Hero, from T-Mobile and Orange with shipments to begin soon, according to company president and CEO Peter Chou.
The confirmation of the orders came as HTC unveiled the HTC Hero in London on June 24. The HTC Hero will be available to users across Europe in July and in Asia later in the summer. A distinct North American version will be available later in 2009, the company said.
HTC also debuted its in-house developed new interface, the HTC Sense, an intuitive and seamless experience that will be introduced to all new HTC phones beginning with Hero, the company noted.
With bevelled edges and an angled bottom, the HTC Hero is contoured to fit comfortably in a user's hand, according to the company. The HTC Hero features a 3.2-inch HVGA display with an anti-fingerprint screen coating for improved smudge resistance.
The HTC Hero is optimized for Web, multimedia and other content and it also comes with a GPS, digital compass, gravity-sensor, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera and expandable MicroSD memory, the company revealed.
HTC Sense allows users to create different customized content profiles around specific functions or times, and to integrate a variety of communications channels and applications into one single view, the company said.
