Nokia 6760 Slide unveiled

GLOBAL - Finger tappers everywhere will soon have new buttons to press as the Nokia 6760 slide messaging device is coming to Europe. The Nokia 6760 slide shares many (but not all) traits with its US sibling, the Nokia Surge, announced in the US last week. Designed for messaging on the move, the 6760 slide sports a full slide out QWERTY keyboard and is the perfect device to keep your status up to date, your followers fed with tweets and staying in touch on IM.

The landscape 6760 slide sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 3.2-megapixel snapper and support for up to 8GB of storage with microSD (it comes with a 2GB card). Talk time is a healthy five hours, though with all that messaging functionality it’s the 500 hours standby time that’ll have bigger appeal. The 6760 also comes with A-GPS which serves up mapping treats through 3D landmarks and terrain mapping.

Nokia messaging comes as standard which will give access to a range of popular email services, along with Mail for Exchange support and for those who don’t feel like looking at the screen, Message Reader. Google Talk and Windows Live Instant Messaging services are also supported. You can also get easy access to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

The 6760 slide will be available during the third quarter of 2009 for €199 before subsidies and taxes. Initially available in black, red and white variants are expected later in the year for some countries.
