In 2012, Nokia N-series will go entirely to Maemo

At a Thursday evening in London event N900 meet-up representatives of the marketing team Maemo reported that Nokia 2012 is planning to abandon the use of Symbian OS devices in its flagship N-series. Instead, it will be installed only Maemo platform. In this process of transition from one platform to another will be gradual. Currently, there are already promising examples in the development of N-series, which will continue to Symbian. Nokia N900 will be a kind of "bridge" between the OS, because the device is aimed primarily for developers and enthusiasts.

Also, representatives of Nokia said that at present no plans to use the Maemo platform multimedia phones in the X-Series and the popular line of business E-series. At the same time noting that the company had been struck by a high level of interest paid to the Maemo platform 5, so in the future this trend may have more extensive development. Also reported that the community 'Maemo Select', employees and service for downloading applications for N900, will operate in parallel with Ovi Store. But in the long run, this duality will be abolished and all applications for all platforms will be available only through Ovi Store.
