Buffalo submitted ExpressCard c USB 3.0

Despite pessimistic forecasts about the prospects Interface USB 3.0 devices supporting this standard is gradually emerging on the market. Japanese company Buffalo introduces the ExpressCard IFC-EC2U3/UC, which has two USB 3.0 connectors. This ExpressCard is compatible with standard 34 mm connector and, according to the manufacturer supports a theoretical data transfer rate 4.8 Gb / s (the maximum possible for this standard).

The last statement is questionable, because official data do not indicate whether the device is implemented as ExpressCard 1.0 or 2.0. This point is vitally important to the point that the use of slot ExpressCard 1.0 4,8 GB / s transfer rate will remain "theoretical" because the standard of 1.0 implies a transfer of data not exceeding 2.5 GB / sec. If you are using ExpressCard 2.0, then the maximum transfer rate of USB 3.0 can be realized, since the speed ExpressCard in this case is 5 GB / sec. ExpressCard IFC-EC2U3/UC Deliveries will begin in January 2010. Currently, the device is available for pre-order a number of British suppliers, and the cost is £ 35 ($ 57).
