Asustek to launch four new handsets in January and MID PDA phone in mid-2008

Asustek Computer plans to launch four new handsets, including the P550 and P527, in January 2008, according to company sources.

The 3G-compliant P550 features a 3.5-inch touch panel and is powered by a Marvell PXA 270 520MHz processor, while the 2G-compliant P527 is powered by a TI (Texas Instruments) OMA P850 200MHz processor, the sources noted. The trade names of other two models, however, are not yet available.

In other news, Asustek's notebook team has recently come out with a prototype PDA phone, the M930W, which will target the MID (mobile Internet Device) market. Sources at the company indicated that the M930W is expected to be launched in the middle of 2008.
