Motorola introduced the first session wireless LTE at a frequency of 700 MHz

The company Motorola has announced the completion of the first wireless communication session at a frequency of 700 MHz technology LTE (Long-Term Evolution) using a prototype of the test radio on the platform LTE eNode-B.

Sessions include the transfer of streaming video and broadband data in different applications. In testing was also verified compliance with the priority application, which guarantees high quality service standards LTE.

The transfer at low frequencies provide more extensive coverage and communications inside buildings, the need for many mobile operators. In North America, the frequency of 700 MHz auction earlier this year as part of the world «digital dividend»; range of 470-862 MHz freed after the transition from analog television broadcasting to digital. Mobile operators USA, Europe and many others fear the digital dividend regarded as a valuable resource, as well as old and new mobile broadband network standard frequency is rapidly spreading to new territories, including in rural areas.

In Europe, the digital dividend covers the band 790-862 MHz broadcast TV. Calling for sale by auction is expected in the 2009-2012 biennium. That coincides with plans for the deployment of mobile operators technologies LTE.

Flexible architecture LTE eNode-B companies Motorola to optimize for specific needs of every customer through stations with loop antenna and remote mobile units. This design supports a wide range of frequencies at an early stage of implementation, and LTE allows for various scenarios LTE deployment in new and existing ranges of GSM, UMTS and CDMA. For example, 700 MHz radio frequency unit can be optimized for operation at frequencies «digital dividend» 790-862 MHz, as soon as it becomes available in various regions.

LTE technology promises to open up access to unique opportunities at the expense of huge capacity and high performance at the lowest cost per bit for data transmission services. Due to the high quality of service and compatibility with other access technologies, operators can integrate LTE solutions with fixed broadband access networks. LTE technology provides high speed uninterrupted communication, which enhances the quality of multimedia services and provides new applications (such as streaming video) cellular network.
