Optical glass processor G-Tech to expand China plant

Taiwan-based optical glass processing service provider G-Tech Optoelectronics, in which Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) owns a major stake, recently announced an additional investment of US$8.74 million in the company's Dongguan plant in China. In early 2008, G-tech already injected US$12 million to expand the plant, which completed new production lines on July 31 this year.

Buoyed by growing demand for slimmer portable electronics devices, G-Tech expects its glass thinning for notebook and handset panel applications will bring impressive contributions to the company's performance. In addition, its joint development of touch panels with Foxconn will be pushing forward G-Tech's capacity expansion for indium tin oxide (ITO) glasses, according to the company.
