Sony Ericsson to release flagship mobile phone in 2009

Specifications for new handset leaked

Sony Ericsson is understood to be working on a new flagship mobile phone and will, says observers, be releasing it in 2009. The rumours have been recently strengthened by the leaking of a group of specifications that relate to the new project.

The new mobile - which currently is unnamed at this time - will reportedly be based on a slider design within a compact metal chassis and will be released under the Walkman moniker. Fronted by a WLAN display which will span a total of 2.6in, the new handset will apparently feature a 8.1MP camera that will also include auto-flash, face detection, a photo flash and support for video at, what some people might find a disappointing, QVGA at 30fps, according to the Semcblog website.

In addition, the new design also reportedly includes Walkman v4.0 plus a 3.5mm headphone jack. Which will be a relief for all those Sony Ericsson fans who have to currently cope with fiddly headphone adaptors.
