Nokia has unveiled three new handsets, the 2730 Classic, 7020, and 2720 fold, which are expected to hit the market starting in the third quarter of 2009.
The base price tag of about 80 euro (US$108) for the 2730 Classic is over 50% lower than the initial price of Nokia's current mainstream 3G handset, the 3120 Classic, clearly indicating that the vendor is adjusting to the weak economic situation and pricing competition from rival vendors such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics (LGE), Huawei Technologies and ZTE.
Nokia is also likely to step up efforts to promote its in-house developed mobile services such as Comes with Music, Nokia Maps, Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail alongside the introduction of new models and lower pricing strategy, industry sources noted.
