Taiwan-based handset maker Compal Communications posted revenues of NT$1.6 billion (US$48.93 million) in July 2009, a decline of 33% sequentially and 18.5% on year, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
For the first seven months of the year, revenues amounted to NT$13.7 billion, declining 30% from a year earlier, the company said.
Although the company will begin to ship smartphones to Acer, Palm and LG Electronics (LGE) in the fourth quarter, Compal's revenues contributed by smartphone shipments will not be significant in 2009, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
