Huawei Deploys World' s First IEEE 1588v2 Packet-Based Mobile Backhaul Commercial Network for China Mobile

Huawei, a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, announced the successful deployment of a packet-based mobile backhaul network supporting TD-SCDMA technology for China Mobile in Zhejiang, which is the world' s first to comply with the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 1588v2 standard allowing the operator to smoothly modernize the network to LTE (Long Term Evolution).

The IEEE 1588v2 is the latest industry standard that enables high-precision clock synchronization and meets the LTE bearer needs of operators. As GPS (Global Positioning System), the other industry standard of time synchronization, cannot penetrate roofs, IEEE 1588v2 technology is able to better utilize the spectrums and synchronize the time information for indoor base stations by transport network. By deploying Huawei' s PTN mobile compliant backhaul solution, China Mobile is able to accelerate its network roadmap while protecting their investment.

Zhong Tianhua, General Manager of Zhejiang Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile said, "With rich experience in deploying 3G/LTE networks worldwide , Huawei helped us deploy the most modernized Packet-Based mobile backhaul network in Zhejiang. We believe this state-of-the-art network will enable us to smoothly evolve to LTE from our existing TD-SCDMA network."

Li Weishi, President of Metro Ethernet, Huawei Network, said, "With our leading solutions in mobile broadband field and strong capability in delivery, we are committed to delivering high-quality LTE networks to operators worldwide."

To date, Huawei's PTN mobile backhaul solution has been widely adopted by world-leading operators, including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange of FT, MegaFon, China Mobile and China Telecom.
