The 850 MHz spectrum is part of the highest-quality spectrum band available.

"Our goal is to add 3G service in new areas throughout North and Central Florida and to boost network capacity where we already have this technology in place," said Jennifer Van Buskirk, vice president and general manager, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets for Central and North Florida. "We continually upgrade our network so that our customers have the best experience every time they make a call, check an e-mail or surf the Internet on their AT&T device."

Customers using an AT&T 3G device can download a game or ringtone or access e-mail in a fraction of the time that it used to take. The high-speed AT&T 3G network gives customers access to advanced, on-the-go wireless services such as:

•Video Share - A groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind service in the U.S. that allows users to share live video over wireless phones while carrying on a voice call.
•Cellular Video (CV) - An on-demand streaming video service that lets users watch video clips of their favorite TV shows, movies, news, weather, sports and more.

"The AT&T 3G network opens the door to a new era of advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content," said Marshall Criser III, president, AT&T Florida. "I am proud of the enhancements we have made and we will continue to make significant investments throughout the state to deliver dependable, high speed wireless access in more places for our customers."

From 2006 to 2008, AT&T's total capital investment in Florida was more than $3 billion. In 2009, AT&T is investing between $17 billion and $18 billion nationally in total capital expenditures, about two-thirds of which is devoted to network enhancements and expansions. The investment in its 3G wireless broadband network is part of AT&T's ongoing effort to build the broadband networks - both wireless and wired - that will create jobs and fuel economic growth and enable its customers to access the content, applications and services that matter most to them.

The AT&T 3G network - the nation's fastest 3G network, according to data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms - is now available in more than 350 U.S. major metropolitan areas. AT&T announced in May that it would be upgrading its 3G network to deliver even faster mobile broadband speeds. The upgrades are slated to begin later this year, with completion expected in 2011.

AT&T's wireless network is based on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technologies, the most open and widely used wireless network platform in the world. AT&T provides 3G data roaming in more than 95 countries and voice calling in more than 215 countries
