Top-three Taiwan carriers post strong earnings gains in August

The top-three carriers in Taiwan, Taiwan Mobile, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), all posted strong profit gains in August, with their EPS' topping NT$0.43 (US$0.013), NT$0.36 and NT$0.25, respectively, for the month.

CHT had about 1.45 million FTTx subscribers and 420,000 8Mbps ADSL subscribers as of the end of August 2009, the company indicated.
