The network got the hype about the possible penalties that the Federal Antimonopoly Service alleged plans to impose on Nokia. In response to reports in the media in case of violation by Nokia of the antimonopoly legislation, FAS Russia issued an official explanation:
September 23, 2009, FAS Russia recognized that the Board of Nokia violated antitrust laws and stopped the investigation in connection with the voluntary elimination of violation. Violation of the law by coordinating the activities of retailers in terms of establishment of recommended prices for phones. This could lead to restriction of competition between networks.
The case was initiated in August 2009 before the entry into force of the so-called "Second antimonopoly package of laws", which introduces a "negotiable penalties" for the coordination of economic activities that restrict competition. In connection with this penalty would not apply.
