Orange introduces up to 20 meg broadband as standard

- Up to 20 Meg download speeds for all customers in Orange’s home broadband network areas
- Four new price plans unveiled offering 20 Meg home broadband from as little as only £6.50 a month
- New marketing campaign to promote the offers to feature in the run up to Christmas

Orange announced that it will be making up to 20 Meg download speeds a standard across all its home broadband packages within the Orange broadband network area as part of a price plan refresh taking place with immediate effect. The pledge to provide faster download speeds builds on Orange’s commitment to enhance its broadband service, and ‘evolve’ the company’s home broadband offering in the UK.
Orange will be offering download speeds of up to 20 Meg to all new customers on its broadband network - without them being required to pay a premium price like some providers. As well as introducing the new speeds, Orange is also refreshing its home broadband portfolio, part of which will see all new customers able to download the multimedia content they want, with an unlimited download usage allowance across all price plans that is subject to fair usage.

As part of the refresh, from today, Orange’s Home Max package, which comes with a wireless router, will include inclusive evening and weekend UK landline calls***, providing customers who want the convenience of broadband and a landline all in one package with great value for money. From launch, Home Max will be free for the first three months** and after that it will be available from just £6.50 a month to Orange mobile pay monthly customers. Customers will only need to pay an additional £10.50 for line rental – a saving on the standard £11.25 line rental charge from BT.
Orange has also introduced Home Ultra*, a new edition to its home broadband portfolio. The Home Ultra price plan includes the Orange Livebox (Orange’s wireless router) which can connect up to six computers at any one time, and also enable those using the package to make any-time calls to 30 countries. The package also includes anytime inclusive calls to UK landlines***. Home Ultra is available from £10.50 per month to Orange mobile pay monthly customers.

Finally, for those wanting a ‘no frills’ broadband package, then Orange’s Home Starter and Home Select price plans are ideal. From as little as £7 per month to Orange pay monthly mobile customers, Orange’s Home Starter package comes with wireless home broadband as well as Orange’s landline service providing inclusive evening and weekend calls to UK landlines***, where as Home Select is perfect for customers who require simple stand alone home broadband and is available from £9 per month to Orange pay monthly mobile customers which includes a wireless router.
The broadband refresh will be supported by a new integrated marketing campaign under the strapline “No more speeding fines”, designed to highlight the new download speed and which will feature across a combination of press and outdoor advertisements, direct mail and online advertising as well as throughout Orange shops in the run up to Christmas.

Asif Aziz, Director of Broadband and Home, Orange UK said: “We’re really pleased to be making download speeds of up to 20 Meg available as standard - regardless of the home broadband package a customer chooses. With these faster speeds, built around price plans which really do offer value for money - customers can make the most of the internet and enjoy a faster and more seamless experience when going online.”
