SanDisk starts shipping the world's first 64-gigabit X4 NAND flash memory cards

SanDisk has announced shipments of flash memory cards, manufactured by proprietary technology X4. This technology differs from others in that it contains four bits of data per memory cell, which is two times more compared to conventional NAND modules that use multilevel cell (MLC).

New products that use this technology with the use of 43-nm process technology and 64-gigabit NAND flash modules have the highest density in the world among single-chip memory modules. SanDisk manufactures memory card SDHC and Memory Stick PRO Duo with the use of technology X4 volume of 8 and 16 GB.
