Wireless phone collection drive at Broncos home games on Oct. 3 and Oct. 31.
BOISE, ID — Verizon Wireless and the Boise State Broncos are teaming up again this year to help curb domestic violence. Fans attending the Broncos home games on Oct. 3 and Oct. 31 are invited to donate no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories to benefit survivors of domestic violence through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. HopeLine drop boxes will be located at a Verizon Wireless tent at the Allen Noble Hall of Fame Plaza during the home games.
Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any wireless service provider are collected. Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those without value are recycled in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds from HopeLine are used to award grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to local shelters and non-profit organizations to aid survivors of domestic violence.
“Verizon Wireless is pleased to partner for the fifth year in a row with the Boise State Broncos to have HopeLine made part of the game day activities for this season,” said Melanie Braidich, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “By something as simple as donating wireless phones that are no longer used, the Broncos fans are helping to make a difference in an epidemic that affects one in three American women during their lifetime.”
The HopeLine program also includes #HOPE, which can be dialed from any Verizon Wireless handset to immediately connect to the National Domestic Violence Hotline. The hotline provides professional support and referrals to people involved in domestic violence, as well as those who want to help friends and family. The call to #HOPE is toll- and airtime-free.
Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country. For more information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.
