And the Winner is – Sony Ericsson’s MTV EMA Presenter 2009 is chosen

erlin, Germany: The one hundred FanWalkers make their final steps towards the EMA’s ’09. The Irish FanWalker Gillian Deegan already reached her final goal – she is elected to be the one presenting an MTV award live on stage.

The trek to Berlin is definitely a test of endurance and spirit for the FanWalkers – not only that they nearly walk 300 kilometers, they also take part in workshops and have the opportunity to show off their talents and stand out from the crowd.

Amidst the 100 FanWalkers is Gillian Deegan – she mastered the challenges of FanWalk together with her 99 new friends from 15 different countries. It is by no means easy for FanWalkers to motivate themselves afresh every day and stay right up at the front to maintain a chance of being elected Sony Ericsson MTV EMA presenter.

The Sony Ericsson FanWalk adventure had a different theme every day, keeping the one hundred music fans on their toes. Many attributes were called for – street style, team spirit, talent for entertaining people, connecting to them and making new friends.

Democracy prevailed – every evening with the help of motto cards the FanWalkers voted for their personal favourite from their own ranks to form a shortlist of possible award presenters.

A Jury elected Gillian Deegan from among the final five candidates as the official MTV EMA award presenter – a money-can’t-buy dream prize for anyone who is passionate about music.

FanWalkers will begin their trek in Hamburg on October 27 and arrive in Berlin on November 5. Along the way, they’ll experience adventures together, overcome challenges and celebrate plenty of parties. On the evening of the big event, one lucky FanWalker will present an MTV Award to one of the prizewinning artists. Anyone who wants to know more details about FanWalk, or who wants to find out how they can be part of this exciting music adventure, can simply go to www.fanwalk.tv and sign in.

The Application Procedure:
The candidates first made the cut at the online casting, which started on July 13 on www.fanwalk.tv. Anyone who believed they have what it takes to be a FanWalker could log in and prove why they – of all people – absolutely must be part of this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. There were three steps to take to become a FanWalker: First, each candidate who wanted to sign up for FanWalk had to create his or her individual profile on www.fanwalk.tv. Friends, acquaintances and the website’s visitors could vote for their favourite profiles. To become part of FanWalk, the candidates had to win at least 50% of the “Off to Berlin” votes by the closing day. Afterwards, Sony Ericsson’s jury considered the creativity of the profiles and the originality of the answers to an application task. Finally, the jury interviewed the field of candidates before the 100 FanWalkers were nominated.
