China MIIT vice minister visiting Taiwan

Lou Qinjian, China's vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), will arrive in Taipei on November 23 for a three-day visit, according to industry sources.

Lou will be accompanied by a group of 70-80 top executives of China-based IT and telecom companies, including China Mobile, Lenovo, Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Datang Telecom Technology and China Putian Information Industry.

Lou and his entourage will attend an information technology standards symposium to be held from November 24-25. The symposium aims to reach common standards on technologies such as IPTV, interactive media, LED, and TD-SCDMA for use by IT industries in Taiwan and China.

Lou is also scheduled to visit a number of major Taiwan-based IT companies, including Compal Electronics, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), Acer, HTC (High Tech Computer) and Delta Electronics, the sources noted.
