Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) expects to allocate a capex higher than the NT$9 billion (US$280.4 million) projected for 2009 in 2010. The new capex will include a budget of NT$3-4 billion for its roll-out of HSPA+ infrastructure, according to chief commercial officer Yvonne Li.
While stating that it is still committed to WiMAX deployments, FET's investments in WiMAX infrastructure in 2010 will be below 10% of its projected annual capex, Li said, noting that the company will kick off WiMAX services in Taichung in December 2009.
