CHT to sell 100,000 netbooks and 400,000 smartphones in 2010

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) expects its direct sales of netbooks bundled with 3G services to top 100,000 units in 2010, according to company vice president Huang Tzu-han.

CHT only began selling netbooks directly to customers in September 2009, and to date has sold 6,000 units. Sales via retail channel Senao International have averaged 4,000-5,000 units per month, and CHT has also partnered with the Tsann Kuan Enterprise retail chain.

In addition, Huang also projected that sales of smartphones, either bundled or unlocked models, will reach 400,000 units in 2010 compared to 300,000 units in 2009. Of total smartphones sold in 2010, 120,000 units will be Android-based models, Huang added.
