Despite the most PC vendors have already completed development of ARM-based tablet PCs, vendors such as Asustek Computer and Micro-Star International (MSI) will still push Wintel-based tablet PCs as their focus for Computex 2010, according to sources from PC players.
In early 2010, both Asustek and MSI's originally made plans to use Nvidia's Tegra chipset with Android OS for their tablet PCs to reduce costs; however, the two firms have recently changed their plans and noted that they will mainly push Intel processor devices with Windows 7.
The sources alleged that the change is mainly because of "persuasion" from Intel and Microsoft.
However, makers will still have ARM-based tablet PCs at the show and are expected to launch related models in the channel in the third quarter, the sources noted.
