MGTS complete "digitization" the telephone network to the end of 2011

Telecommunications operator MTS has announced that its subsidiary, JSC Moscow City Telephone Network (operator of the local wireline) to complete digitalization of the network before the end of 2011, two years ahead of schedule.

Completion of the modernization MGTS network before the end of 2011 will be implemented through the use of mediators in the numbering plan - a special set of equipment, interoperable analog switches with IP-networks. Installation of mediators on the existing PBX will also allow subscribers to MGTS translate ten-dialing a phone number to the end of 2011 in fulfillment of the order of the Russian Federation Ministry of Communications N137 to move to a closed numbering plan and to provide all customers with a full range of modern communications services.

As the company claims, is now a network of MGTS tsifrovizovana 68% transfer of the remaining 32% of subscribers in digital format will allow for all customers equally wide range of services: call forwarding, numeric caller ID, Internet access at speeds up to 20 Mbps, IPTV without changes to existing telephone numbers. Also, the introduction of a mediator numbering plan will reduce operating costs, capital repair and energy exchange.
