Analyst MTS on mobile retail market of Russia for a semester in 2011

The mobile operator MTS, presented his analytical report of the market of cell phones and mobile retail in general for the 1st half of 2011. It notes that the number of phones sold in Russia in the 1st half of 2011, according to preliminary estimates, up 20% compared to the same period last year. In monetary terms, in the 1st half of 2011 the market grew by 18% over the same period last year, the volume totaled 76.0 billion rubles. The average market price of mobile phones in the 1st half of 2011 decreased by 2% versus the same period in 2010, primarily due to lower cost phones.

In H1 2011 the share of retail MTS mobile phone market in the piece expression was 16.3% (including sales of franchisee partners). The share of branded phones of MTS in its own retail network increased to 17.3% in 1st half of 2011 from 14.1% in 1st half of 2010. The share of branded phones in 2Q 2011, total sales amounted to 20.4% of MTS.

Sales leader in the 1st half of 2011 in retail MTS MTS phone was 140, which took 4.9% of the sales of mobile phones retail MTS. Phones Nokia 1280 and Samsung E1080 in the 1st half of 2011 held at 4.1%.

The operator also notes that since 2010, there has been strong growth in sales of laptops and tablet PCs in retail MTS. Active sales tablet PCs in Russia occurred in the second half of 2010 and continued in the 1st half of 2011. The growth in 1st half of 2011 relative to 2 half of 2010 amounted to about 40%, despite the seasonality.
