VimpelCom's daughter won the contest for 4G frequencies in Italy

Operator VimpelCom has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary in Italy, Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA (Next "WIND"), took part in the competition for frequencies in the range of 800 MHz and 2600 MHz, conducted by the Government of Italy August 29, 2011. The total cost of the license is 1 120 million euros. WIND company to be paid about 682 million euros for 30 days from the date of allocation of frequencies. In this case the remaining amount, approximately equal to 438 million euros, will be made ​​in installments in annual installments over five years. The first payment under the license will be financed through a combination of own funds earmarked by WIND and WIND bridge loan of 600 million euros, the group secured leading international banks. Thanks to the allocation of these frequencies WIND in the coming years will be deployed and run the network communications services based on technology LTE/4G. Received frequencies in 800 MHz and 2600 MHz will allow WIND full advantage of LTE as to improve the quality of all services and to provide high quality coverage inside buildings. The frequencies in the range of 2600 MHz are allocated at the time of announcement of the results of the competition, and the range of 800 MHz will be available for use only winners in early 2013. Licenses for both ranges will operate until 2029.
