ICT and commuting in focus

Ericsson ConsumerLab has cooperated with KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm on a new report on ICT and commuting. The report presents how ICT can facilitate commuting from a user point of view and make it more sustainable.

The report, named Getting there and back again – commuting and ICT in six cities across the globe, was compiled by Ericsson together with the Centre for Sustainable Communications at KTH.

Several consumer-defined ICT solutions, many of which are based on the mobile phone, are discussed in the report. These solutions can be used to improve the commuting experience and avoid the many frustrations around it. Examples are smarter mobile travel planners and more connected and adaptive traffic management systems.

The new report builds on a previous study from Ericsson ConsumerLab called Understanding Everyday Life – Consumer Insights in Verticals, which was conducted in 2011.
