Tele2 has started testing LTE technology at 1800 MHz

The operator Tele2 announced the start of trials of LTE in the range of 1800 MHz in the existing network in Omsk. According to the company, the tests became possible after obtaining the necessary permits for the use of radio frequencies. Testing of LTE in the range of 1800 MHz is intended to demonstrate in practice the effectiveness of the technologies LTE and GSM at the same frequencies without losing the quality of communication, said Tele2. used for testing equipment company Nokia Siemens Networks, including energy-efficient and compact base stations Flexi Multiradio. The operator stated that this equipment provides high capacity mobile broadband network, and provides a smooth transition from GSM to LTE. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks has set for testing the solution Evolved Packet Core (EPC), which is part of the Liquid Core architecture, and manages the connection of subscribers to the Internet, private network operators, or corporate networks. Tele2 and Radio Research Institute intend to complete the test before the end of March 2012.
