“Reputations in the making” presented by Nokia
The Burton Open events are exactly that, open. An opportunity for anyone to compete alongside some of the best snowboarders in the world. And for its 30th year running, new riders once again exploded onto the scene; wowing both the judges and the crowd. With some riders just breaking into their teens; everyone has a chance to make their mark. We wanted to acknowledge their valiant efforts by presenting the first ever Nokia Rookie Award.
Contenders had the opportunity to compete against the likes of snowboarding legends such as Shaun White and Kelly Clark, but we were looking out for new, emerging talent. It was a tough decision. Judged by the rider’s scores, style, and how far they advanced through the competition; the accolade was eventually given to two Rookies who smashed the halfpipe competition. Watch their road to glory here:
We were also at the Burton European Open in Switzerland where we gave riders a new vision of their snowboarding using 18 Nokia Lumia 800s to capture tricks in 180° for the very first time on the Nokia 180° Freeze trampoline.
As well as the Nokia Rookie Award, we also hosted the Nokia Tent in the Sponsor’s Village where attendees could sit back and watch a live feed of the action up the mountain whilst also giving people the opportunity to charge any phone at one of our Phone Fuel stands in the tent or around the event.
Plus, want to win an exclusive VIP Burton Snowboard US Open backpack, filled with Burton Snowboard gear? Simply answer:
