Tongue in cheek advert shows what would happen if Orange were to mess with Stallone and the Expendables
Launches into cinemas nationwide from Friday 4 May
Orange and Lionsgate UK announced a fantastic new addition to Orange’s Gold Spot cinema advertising series featuring Hollywood heavyweights Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren and new recruit; Brit James Buckley. The Expendables 2 Gold Spot will launch in cinemas nationwide from Friday 4 May, The Expendables 2 appears in UK cinemas on Friday 17 August 2012.
The Gold Spot’s plot focusses on the newest edition to the Expendables team, Crumper (James Buckley), a ‘Social Networks Communications Officer’ who turns up at the group’s secret HQ with his Orange enabled kit to introduce the rough and ready characters to the world of social media. Chaos ensues when Crumper reveals to the Expendables - including Stallone, Statham and Lundgren’s characters’ that he has already started his new role by uploading a picture of their lair to Facebook and tagged them in ‘the funky bunker’, much to the team’s horror! The ad ends with the screen legends evacuating the premises under fear of attack, leaving Buckley behind to tidy up the HQ with a hollow promise that they will return for him.
The Expendables Gold Spot is part of Orange’s ongoing association with film, which includes the highly successful Orange Wednesdays and the Orange Film To Go service, in partnership with iTunes. Previous stars of Orange Gold Spot campaigns include The Muppets, Spike Lee, The A-Team and Jack Black.
The ad was produced by creative agency Fallon in collaboration with Orange and Lionsgate UK.
