MTS starts selling nano-SIM cards for the iPhone 5
The mobile operator MTS announced the launch of sales of SIM-cards of the new standard - 4FF (nano-SIM) - in the salons of its retail network from September 21, 2012. The first device, which will be used nano SIM-card will be the iPhone 5, the official sale in the U.S. and other countries also begin on September 21.
Ukrainian branch of the company also announced receipt of the first batch of more than 10 thousand SIM-card of the new generation (the so-called NanoSIM), on sale in shops in the MTS Ukraine in October. It is expected that in the mid-autumn in Ukraine will be the first users of the new iPhone. All in all, today in the MTS are more than 140 thousand owners of devices from Apple.
On memory and functional new form factor SIM-card is no different from the current standard, but much smaller in size: length - 12 mm, width - 9 mm, thickness - 0.7 mm versus 15h22h0, 8mm in micro-SIM. In the ultra-nano SIM-card contains no plastic edge, almost all of its area is an electronic chip.
Suppliers 4FF SIM-cards for MTS is LLC "Sitronics Smart Technologies" LLC, "Zhemalto" and CJSC "body". Volume of the first acquisitions of the party nano-SIM cards amounted to 100,000 units.
