AT&T Congratulates Driver Jeff Burton as He Moves up to Second Place in NASCAR's Chase for the Cup with a Win in Charlotte

Burton's Spectacular Bank of America 500 Win Moves the AT&T Racing Team Closer to a Championship

Dallas, Texas, October 15, 2008

With five races left in the Chase for the Cup, a 10-race playoff series in NASCAR's elite-level stock-car racing circuit, AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is proud to congratulate driver Jeff Burton and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) on their thrilling victory in the Bank of America 500. The victory at Lowe's Motor Speedway last Saturday night in Concord, N.C., was Burton's second of the season, and it vaulted the driver of the No. 31 AT&T Chevrolet into second place in the standings. Burton now sits only 69 points behind Chase leader Jimmie Johnson.

Burton led the final 57 of 334 laps after passing Greg Biffle for the top spot on Lap 278. This was Burton's 21st career Cup victory and his third at Lowe's.

This year marks AT&T's seventh season as the primary sponsor for the No. 31 RCR Chevrolet and the fourth year with Burton behind the wheel of the Cup car. In 2007, Burton helped deliver another successful season for AT&T Racing, highlighted by a win at Texas, nine top-five finishes, 18 top-10 finishes and a spot in the season-ending Chase for the Cup. Burton finished eighth in the point standings, marking the seventh time in his 15-year career that he finished in the top 10 in the championship standings.
