RoEduNet chose optical solution Nortel

Romanian Education Network (RoEduNet) has selected next-generation optical solution from Nortel with the speed of data transmission 10 Gbit / s to provide scientists and researchers bandwidth needed for major scientific and research projects, as well as education and training. Adaptive and intelligent optical network RoEduNet bring together all the key research and educational tools Romania with the help of a fiber-optic network length of over 4329 km, which will connect the cities and universities. The network will provide universities, schools, cultural, academic and research organizations to interact with each other, as well as continuous high-speed connection.

Adaptive optics technology Nortel capacity 40 or 100 Gbit / s allows RoEduNet implement and cost unrestricted passage from 10 to 40 and then to 100 Gbit / sec. Decisions Nortel can simply and economically increase network capacity to provide applications with high requirements - for example, to watch television and videos on the Internet and distributed computing for expedited processing, which is a significant advantage in terms of cost research and education institutions.

For optical network infrastructure RoEduNet capacity 10 Gbit / s is a decision based on the leading convergent platform Optical Multiservice Edge 6500 platform and Common Photonic Layer, which allows you to create a more rapid and adaptive optics network of new generation on a national scale. This solution includes technology configurable optical input-output multiplexer (ROADM) on the platform of CPL and electronic dynamically compensating optics (eDCO) on a platform of Optical Multiservice Edge 6500. ROADM allows you to quickly change the models of service and traffic due to the fact that users can dynamically add and reduce optical waves, not restricting them, but eDCO allows the waves pass over the network, regardless of the distance, scattering waves and network topologies.

Optical technology with Nortel bandwidth 10 Gb / s transmission speeds up to 40 and 100 Gbit / s by adding simple technology components, requiring no additional configuration. This gives an opportunity RoEduNet if necessary to upgrade certain channels or the entire network to 40 or 100 Gbit / s without re-engineering the optical level. Adaptive optical nucleus of Nortel 40G/100G dynamically adjusts the change of optical signals across the network to ensure undistorted transmission of any type of fiber used in the present.

RoEduNet solution uses Nortel Optical Network Manager for the administration of the network, monitoring and planning from a single control center in Bucharest. This allows you to quickly identify and fix faults, and manage traffic without the need to attract technical personnel to eliminate defects in certain locations seti.Felix Telecom, Nortel partner for the integration of Romania, will provide design, installation, deployment and subsequent maintenance of the new optical network RoEduNet.
