LGE's total handset shipments in Taiwan are expected to grow 40% on year to reach 650,000 units in 2008, meeting its shipments goal and accounting for 10% of Taiwan's handset market, Chen noted.
In terms of sales volume, LGE ranked the fifth largest handset vendor in Taiwan in October, accounting for a 7.6% share, according to data released by retail channels. However, the company was the second ranking vendor in Taiwan's CDMA handset segment with a 24.2% share.
For the year-end buying season, LGE on December 11 launched five new handsets in Taiwan, including the KC910 8-megapixel cameraphone, the KB770 touch-panel mobile TV handset and the KX266T CDMA handset.
