Five handset makers qualify as China Mobile TD-SCDMA suppliers with MediaTek handset chips, says paper

China Mobile has listed several handset makers which it has qualified as suppliers for its 600 million RMB (US$87.85 million) TD-SCDMA deployment. Five of the makers, including ZTE, LG Electronics (LGE) and Yulong, have adopted MediaTek's handset chips, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.

China Mobile listed a total of twelve qualified suppliers. In addition to China-based companies, global top-five makers Samsung Electronics, LGE and Motorola are also on the list, indicating that leading players are turning more aggressive in regards to TD-SCDMA handset promotion, the report noted.
