Commenting on a Chinese-language website cnYES report that listed Dopod as a subsidiary of High Tech Computer (HTC), the Taiwan-based company has clarified that it does not invest in Dopod and that Dopod is just one of its customers, according to an HTC filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
HTC in 2007 acquired nine subsidiaries of handset distributor Dopod International: Dopod Taiwan, Dopod Hong Kong, Dopod Singapore, Dopod Malaysia, Dopod Indonesia, Dopod Australia, Dopod Thailand, Dopod India, and Dopod Philippines. The Dopod International team was then incorporated into HTC.
The Dopod brand is now operated by a China-based company of the same name.
