The Android platform is now available on MIPS!

MIPS Technologies is bringing the power of Android to the vast MIPS development community across the world. MIPS developers can now begin using this revolutionary platform for consumer devices such as DTVs, mobile internet devices (MIDs), digital picture frames (DPFs) and set-top boxes.

With MIPS Technologies’ leadership position in the digital home, this lays the groundwork to enable Android for a vast number of devices beyond the mobile handset.

What is Android?

Android is a software stack that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. With Android and the dynamic open source development community around it, developers can easily and quickly create new applications, and OEMs can leverage the increasingly broad set of available applications for their devices.

The MIPS ecosystem around Android enables OEMs to quickly optimize Android for their specific platforms.
