HTC sees revenues down over 24% sequentially in July

HTC (High Tech Computer) has posted revenues of NT$10.83 billion (US$331.2 million) for July, down 24.3% sequentially and 5.3% on year. For the first seven months of 2009, revenues totaled NT$80.62 billion, increasing 2.4% from a year earlier.

Although HTC has reduced its orders for parts and components by 20-30% recently as compared to the levels recorded in the second quarter, sources at component suppliers believe that HTC's revenues will pick up again in August and September due to peak-season effects and increasing demand for its newly released handsets.

HTC also said earlier that its revenues for the third quarter will decline about 10% sequentially to NT$34-36 billion.

HTC has also decided to increase its marketing budget to further promote its brand image starting in the fourth quarter with an aim to strengthen its mid- to long-term competitiveness, according to market sources.
