The Advisory Board Hailed the Success of CGDC 2009

BEIJING, -- The Second China Game Developers Conference ("CGDC") (Organizer is Howell International Trade Fair Ltd.) came to a close recently, the success of which far exceeds the expectation of its organizers. During the meeting by the Advisory Board of CGDC (which includes member enterprises like Shanda, NetEase, Giant, Tencent, The9, Perfect World, Kingsoft, 9you, NetDragon, Softstar, Winking, Microsoft, EA, Blizzard, Ubisoft, EPIC, nVidia, Nokia and Gameloft) on the afternoon of July 25, more than twenty member advisors, who are all CEOs, CTOs, Technology Directors or chief producers of these companies, shared their views on the success of this year's conference, as well as what to do to make the 3rd CGDC even more fruitful.

Advisors agreed that much about this year's conference far exceeded their expectations, such as the choice of topics, quality of speakers and papers, the professional background and active participation of the audience. At the meeting, Mr. Andrew Flavell, Senior Director of Microsoft Game Studio, drew special attention to the significance of this conference to China's game industry. Dave, Senior Security Development Engineer from Microsoft, concluded that in terms of conference organization and management, CGDC was the world's first-class. Dave attended GDC in the US for more than a decade and delivered speeches for it several times. He commented that CGDC is an international platform for global exchange of game technology and CGDC was undoubtedly one of the best organized and managed international technology conferences he had ever attended.

Mr. Yao Zhuangxian from Taiwan's Softstar "complained" that the halls were not big enough for such a successful and important conference: "participants from my company had to arrive at the venue 30 minutes earlier to secure a seat and those who didn't get there early enough had to sit on the floor. And during the lunch break, we finished our lunch and tried to get back to the hall as soon as possible." Mr. Yao joked that, "We hope next year the host will provide us with a larger hall or else more of my colleagues will have to enjoy the speeches on the floor."

Key members of the board from Shanda Games, gave high praise to the organization of the conference and suggested that the Organizing Committee might spend some time after the conference in sorting out and packaging videos of speeches and seminars, which can be later offered to audiences and companies for better learning. To this, the Organizing Committee replied that as speeches were intellectual property of speakers the Organizing Committee would talk to the speakers and see what they can provide to the audience.

The meeting, which lasted for over two hours, offered heated discussions and many valuable suggestions from the advisors, which will be important references for preparation for the 3rd CGDC.

Seven years ago, ChinaJoy was opened, yet now it has not only grown into the world's biggest EXPO in the game industry, which has greatly benefited Chinese game enterprises, but has also become an important international event which has been closely followed and actively attended by game companies across the world. We have every reason to believe that CGDC will follow the footsteps of ChinaJoy: with the support and enthusiasm of advisors and developers around the world, CGDC will become a key international conference for game developers, and in turn help enhance the R&D of games in China.

All participants expressed their interest in CGDC programs in 2010, which is expected to generate even more opportunities for worldwide game developers.
