AT&T* is pleased to announce that core wireline employees covered under the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Communications and Technologies contract have voted to ratify a three-year agreement. The agreement covers about 7,000 employees who work in locations across the country.
Roughly half of the 120,000 employees covered under AT&T’s core wireline contracts now have ratified agreements. In addition to the Legacy AT&T Corp. agreement, agreements between AT&T and the CWA have been ratified in the Midwest and West regions. A tentative agreement between AT&T and International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) was also ratified earlier this week.
The agreements demonstrate that even in tough economic times and in the midst of major changes in the marketplace and the telecommunications industry, the company and unions can work together to maintain good union jobs with wages and benefits that are among the best in the country.
We applaud the negotiating teams for their hard work in reaching this agreement, and the membership for recognizing that it was a fair and reasonable agreement and voting for ratification. Other districts continue to negotiate, and we look forward to reaching agreements there soon.
