Representatives of the largest companies working in Russia's market of electronic money, and professional associations in the roundtable "Electronic money: in search of management announced the creation of the Association" Electronic Money "(AED). Currently, the Association joined the company i-Free, WebMoney, or Google search payment service QIWI (kiwi), national industrial associations NAMMS and NAUET.
As argued by the participants themselves, the main objective of AED - the market development of electronic money as a public financial services in the public interest, state and industry participants. The main methods of achieving this goal AED sees the work on the legislative aspects of market regulation of electronic money, increasing the level of interaction between market participants themselves, with other economic entities and public authorities, improving market transparency and the development of criteria for best business practices, and to promote the services provided by electronic money and protect the rights of their consumers.
To date, approximately every 15 th residents of open and use an electronic purse in one of the systems of electronic money, realized in the form of internet and mobile payments. Russia's leader in electronic money on the internet are companies WebMoney and Yandex.Money, the combined share of approximately 90% of the market. Over the past 9 months of 2009 Russia's users increased their electronic purses worth about 10 billion rubles, while the total number of accounts grew to nearly 10 million.
Number of users of mobile payments (for goods and services not related to mobile content) during the first 9 months of 2009 approached 15 million, and the volume of payments - to 7 billion rubles. The main players in the market, occupying 80% of its volume, are four companies: i-Free, A1, Infon, Incor-media. Another major market player - a payment service QIWI (kiwi), combining cellular, and Internet terminal access to electronic money. The number of its registered users exceeded 20 million, and turnover, according to 2009, reaching 8 billion rubles.
