Vodafone Italia and RIM Launch the BlackBerry Storm2 Smartphone

New SurePress Technology, Built-in Wi-Fi, Among the Hundreds of Enhancements in Second Gen BlackBerry Touch-Screen.

Milan, Italy and Waterloo, ON - Vodafone Italia and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) introduced the BlackBerry® Storm2™ smartphone for customers in Italy.

The second generation of RIM's innovative and award-winning touch-screen smartphone, the BlackBerry Storm2 significantly improves the BlackBerry® touch-screen platform with new technology and new features to let customers stay easily connected to the people, places and things that matter most. The new smartphone is now available from Vodafone Italia, both online and in Vodafone retail shops.

New SurePress Technology
The BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone from introduces a new SurePress™ technology based on an electronic suspension system. The new system responds equally to gentle pressure applied anywhere on the surface of the screen and makes clicking the display almost effortless. Typing on the smartphone's virtual keyboards is easier, more comfortable and more accurate. The new SurePress technology also allows the user to type a letter with one thumb even while their other thumb may still be touching or resting on another letter, enabling faster typing and multi-key actions such as Shift or Alt -key combinations.

•Media player for videos, pictures and music, plus support for BlackBerry Desktop Manager for both PCs and Macs, and BlackBerry® Media Sync for easily syncing iTunes® and Windows Media® Player music with the smartphone*
•A 3.5 mm stereo headset jack and dedicated volume controls

•Customers running BlackBerry® Enterprise Server 5 will gain the ability to:

◦Manage Microsoft Exchange email folders (Add, Rename, Move, Delete) on the handset
◦Access remote files shares (Windows Shares); Save, View, Edit, and Email documents from remote file shares
◦Forward appointments and view calendar attachments on the handset
◦Benefit from wireless sync improvements for Contacts, including sync for multiple contact folders, personal Distribution Lists and contacts in Public/Shared folders
Tariff information
The BlackBerry Storm2 9520 is available for all customers at 499€ through Vodafone Italia both online and in retail shops.

All customers who choose one of the Vodafone PiĆ¹ Facile plans will be able to buy the new smartphone from €0 to €399, in addition to free calls to all numbers and unlimited calls to their favourite Vodafone number, with no call set up charge. Customers who opt for the Telefono a rate offering will be able to buy the new BlackBerry Storm2 9520 for €199 with a monthly fee of just €9 for 24 months.

Customers signing up to the Musica, TV e Mobile Internet gratis promotion will have unlimited usage of the Blackberry Internet Service, unlimited Music Rental and unlimited usage of Mediaset channels on Mobile TV for two months. After this period customers can make use of the Mobile Internet for BlackBerry data plan on Vodafone to connect to social networks like Facebook® and Windows Live Messenger with free access to push e-mail services and internet browsing for €10 per month for post-paid customers and €3 per week for pre-paid customers. Alternatively, customers can choose to continue with the Music and Mobile TV promotion for €2.49 per week.

Professionals and business customers can get the new BlackBerry Storm2 from €22 per month (on a 24 month contract) with BlackBerry email service includedThe new smartphone is also available on the Vodafone Full Optional tariff with a monthly upfront cost of €10 ((24 month contract). All business offerings are VAT excluded.
