
In addition to the SmartPad, 1&1 will also offer a docking station, which can be controlled through a remote control and comes with an inbuilt subwoofer.
New 1&1 DSL Doppel-Flat 16.000 customers will be able to get the SmartPad from July free of charge. Current 1&1 customers will get the SmartPad later and 1&1 hasn't announced any prices today.
It's also unknown today if 1&1 will offer the SmartPad to hosting customers also as well as it's yet unclear if 1&1 will bring the SmartPad to its subsidiaries abroad.
UPDATE: According to mobiFlip.de, which got its hands on the spec sheet, the 1&1 SmartPad will be powered by a ARM 11 CPU with 500 MHz and comes with 256 MB DDR RAM and 1 GB flash ROM. Furthermore it's said that the SmartPad comes with Android 1.6 only (an Android 2.2 upgrade is expected for September) but there's no Android Market preinstalled but the devices comes with a propriety app store (in cooperation with German AndroidPit) which features at the moment around 100 applications only.
