Create Timescape™ and Music player extensions with the new EDK v 1.1

We have now released version 1.1 of the Extension Development Kit (EDK) from Sony Ericsson, where you can develop app extensions for both the Timecape™ social network app and the Music player in Sony Ericsson Android™ phones.
Creating an extension and publishing your app correctly will allow your app extension to display in either Timescape™ when a user searches for extensions, or in the Music player as an option when a user tap the Infinite key. As a result, this increases visibility and adds extra value to your app!
Do you have an app based around a time centric concept? Perhaps a social network app, an e-mail client or an RSS reader? If your app has a time and event dependence, then creating a Timescape™ extension is a perfect way to get visibility in Sony Ericsson Android™ phones.
If you have an app evolving around music content, maybe a music store app, an artist information site, an artist oriented app or a fan site, you can extend your app to work with the Infinite key in the Sony Ericsson Music Player. Possibilities are endless – use your imagination and the EDK to create your own Timescape™ and Music player extensions!
What is the EDK?
The EDK consists of an emulator add-on to assist you in developing two types of app extensions. You can develop extensions for the Timescape™ social network app, and for the Music player. Both are pre-installed in Sony Ericsson Android™ phones. We have also created code examples, API descriptions and start up guides to help you get started with developing either Timescape™ or Music player extensions, or both!
What is new in EDK v 1.1?
EDK 1.1 is the next release after EDK 1.0. Any extensions developed using EDK 1.0 can be maintained using EDK 1.1. The difference between EDK 1.0 and 1.1 is that EDK 1.1 contains information on how to develop extensions for both the Music player and the Timescape™ social network app, whereas EDK 1.0 was aimed for Timescape™ extensions only. EDK 1.1 also contains support for HVGA screens.
The documentation is backwards compatible, so if you download the newest code examples and documentation for Timescape™ extensions, you can follow the instructions even if you have EDK 1.0 installed.
