Xperia™ smartphones bring future experiences already today

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of announcing that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia™ portfolio to Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, here at the blog. Although I’m looking forward to this upcoming upgrade, I’m already really enjoying our latest Xperia™ upgrade (Android 2.3.4) and I’m happy to see all the positive comments on the blog about the new features and entertainment experiences available through the upgrade. Actually, some of the experiences I like in my Xperia™ ray are Android 4.0 features already available through our latest Xperia™ upgrade. I’ll highlight some examples:
With our latest Xperia™ upgrade upgrade you can add folders on home screen to group apps and shortcuts the way you want by simply dragging one onto another and name a new folder.
You can easily uninstall downloaded apps directly from app tray without going through the Settings menu.
You can have your favourites close to you at any time by adding them to the stage visible through all home screens.
One of my favourite features is that you can take and share a screen shot whatever you’re doing in the phone. Perfect for bragging about high scores:-)
2D Sweep Panorama and 3D Sweep Panorama are two new cool camera features with our latest Xperia™ upgrade. 2D Sweep Panorama is a new feature in Android 4.0 but 3D Sweep Panorama is to my knowledge only available in Xperia™ phones.
Two other features in our latest Xperia™ upgrade not really comparable with Android 4.0 but really great are:
Gesture input which lets you swipe to write quick and easy without lifting your finger to touch each letter. Just make sure to activate it in the settings. Check out this video to see how it works.
Sharing apps through Facebook and gather all film clips, music and apps shared by your friends in a widget until you have time to check them out.
I hope that this information makes the waiting a bit easier and that you can rest assured that our Android 4.0 upgrade is worth waiting for. More detailed timing of the next upgrade will be communicated here on the blog in due course. Meanwhile, if you’re curious to know more about the work involved before we can release a software upgrade for you to download on your phone, then check out this excellent post published by my friends over at the Developer Blog.
