Development Kits and System on Modules Accelerate Engineering of Android, Linux, and Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Devices.
Vancouver, BC – Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. (TSX: ICS), a leading provider of solutions for mobile and embedded devices, announced a new line up of Cerf®Board device development solutions. Freescale i.MX applications processors based on ARM® cores deliver an optimal balance of performance and long battery life for rich multimedia experiences on mobile and embedded devices. The new Intrinsyc CerfBoard i.MX Development Kits (DK) and Systems on Module (SOM) will accelerate the development of innovative mobile devices for applications in automotive, consumer, industrial, medical, and point of sale markets that demand exceptional performance and efficiency.
For each Freescale processor type—i.MX31, i.MX35, i.MX51 — there will be two offerings: a Development Kit and a smaller “production-ready” system on module. The CerfBoard i.MX SOM is a production-ready solution that includes internal memory, external peripheral interfaces, expansion headers, and a binary image of Android, Linux or Windows® Embedded CE. The CerfBoard i.MX DK provides a complete development environment that allows designers to quickly create applications on a feature rich hardware platform. The CerfBoard i.MX DK includes the i.MX SOM, i.MX base board, modem serial cable, Ethernet cable, power supply, quick start guide and CD with hardware and software documentation, and a Bronze-level support agreement.
“A positive out-of-the box experience with the CerfBoard i.MX Development Kit illustrates the Intrinsyc commitment to providing our customers with effective device development solutions, including all of the accessories required to have a complete solution up and running in a very short time,” said David Manuel, Vice President and General Manager of Device Development Solutions, Intrinsyc. “The modular design of the CerfBoard i.MX SOM allows for quick customization, while the ready-to-run BSPs integrated into a well-known environment dramatically reduce development costs and learning curves.”
“Intrinsyc’s CerfBoard i.MX device development solutions are backed by an experienced product development engineering team that can help customers overcome technical and resource challenges,” said Sridharan Subramanian, Ecosystem Programs, Freescale Semiconductor. “By reducing the risk of development delays and failures, CerfBoard solutions can give Freescale customers additional confidence in the i.MX processor platform.”
