DALLAS and DURHAM, N.C., -- Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile)(1), the number one distributor of mobile phones in North America(2), announced that it has selected PocketGear, Inc., a leading provider of mobile content distribution and application storefront solutions, to power the Samsung Widget Store.

At launch, the Samsung Widget Store will be available to run across Samsung's lineup of new TouchWiz(TM) mobile phones, providing consumers with a simple and easy way to access hundreds of rich connected mobile applications, or "widgets", including Facebook, Twitter, Fox Sports and many other leading consumer services.

"Through our alliance with PocketGear, we are able to provide carriers and developers with a simple way to create and distribute dynamic TouchWiz applications while providing consumers with an easy to use on-device experience to discover and access them," said Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management, Samsung Mobile.
