Sony Ericsson has unveiled its first Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia X10, in the Taiwan market and plans to start deliveries in the first quarter of 2010, according to Steve Yeh, president of Sony Ericsson Taiwan.
Starting the second half of 2010, Sony Ericsson will focus more on Android-, Windows Mobile- and Symbian-based models, with Android phones accounting for a relatively high portion, Yeh indicated.
Sony Ericsson is outsourcing the production of the X10 to the Foxconn Group, which previously also landed the vendor's orders for the Xperia X2 handsets, according to industry sources. The X2 will be available before the end of 2009.
